unit 9

I have learned in this course that it is important for a professional to develop psychologically.  It helps you to handle problems emotionally, as well as, having a strong mind to deal with all the issues. Developing spiritually holds the other 2 domains together, while making a peaceful atmosphere for yourself and clients. Developing physically prevents illnesses with a healthy mind and strong spirit. I need to develop more psychologically, because I have a tendency to be interrupted by many thoughts brought on by multitasking on a constant basis. Some tasks are left incomplete from lack of focusing and weeding out the unnecessary thoughts.

It is difficult for me to assess spirituality without putting the psychological aspect with it. To me, those two are very closely linked and cannot survive without the other. You need the one for the other to work. I feel that I have a strong spirit, but mentally, I am battling negative thoughts that try to hurt my positive energy. This positive energy gives my spirit the strength it needs. Physically I am tired, feet are sore, and so is my right shoulder. When I massage my feet, I can feel blocked energy flow through my body and produce a good feeling. I score my wellness spiritually as an 8. Ten would be the greatest number. I chose this because I am always praying. Physically I am a 6, because I do not work this area enough, needs improvement. Psychologically I am maybe 5. My focus is here and there, except fully on a task. Definitely needs more improvement.

Since, it is too cold for me to go for walks, as in exercising the body and mind, which usually eases negative thoughts away and tense muscles. I plan to find a nice treadmill that folds down and slides under the bed. The goal for my psychological wellness is to sit and meditate off loving-kindness energy, which gives me strength (Dacher,2006). I can use this during times my thinking process has slowed down around 3 pm. The goal for my spiritual wellness is to continue to pray for an opportunity to meditate. When I need it the most is to complete a task.

Physical Strategy: Do 45 minutes of treadmill walking/jogging while watching t.v. with family in the evening after dinner 3 days a week. I can also play Just Dance with my girls on the Wii 2 days out the week.
Psychologically Strategy: I can meditate with loving-kindness on weekends when I wake up or I can do visualization with candles while sitting quiet and drinking my coffee alone to relax my mind. Sometimes, coffee does relax me.
Unit 9

Spiritual Strategy: I can pray every night before bed to sleep well. I can also light incense to smell the aroma and feel the energy in the air.

I can assess my progress for the next 6 months by keeping a reported chart of the activity and making a note about what worked the best.  If I go to the store and find a nice colorful board to write on, then I will be more likely to use it. Colors are motivators for me. I see the energy in them and it gives me energy and creativity to do the work. An organized chart of time and activities will help keep me on track for the long-term practices.
